The heavens declare the Glory of God.
Visual Awe seeks to capture the glory of God, declared by the heavens, for all of us to enjoy. View my gallery to learn more!
How did Visual Awe begin?
It all started with a fast. During the 2020 presidential election in the United States, the Lord laid it on my heart to fast during the weeks leading up to election day. I fasted from activities such as video games and non-Christian music. While I was fasting, I found myself on a Friday night in October with nothing to do. So I decided to take my camera and a tripod, and go on an adventure. I drove my car 2 hours into the dark landscape of Wyoming.
Little did I know this night would change my life.
A Night to Remember.
When I arrived at the dark site, I was awestruck at the sight of the Milkyway. I didn't know it at the time, but I would spend that night photographing the Milkyway Core, the Great Rift, and even Orion as it rose.
I was a complete novice at the time. I had no idea what I was looking at or what I was photographing. I even thought the Pleiades were the Little Dipper... LOL. And while I had no idea what I was doing, I knew I loved it. I could not wait to photograph more.
This night also gave me an incredible worship experience. Seeing the expanse of the heavens declaring the glory of God, while listening to music giving praise, honor and glory to God—made a worship experience that I will never forget.
Today you will find me photographing the night sky with my DSLR cameras, observing the heavens with my 8" newtonian telescope, and dreaming of the opportunity to see the Southern Hemisphere night sky.
This hobby has changed my life in many ways. Getting to see the heavens, which declare the glory of God only makes me want to live a life that honors and glorifies Him more, and sharing the night sky with others as a way to share the love of Christ.
The heavens declare the glory of God, and thus, His truth is written on all of our hearts. Christ died for our sins so we may be saved and reconciled to God if we believe in Him. Being reconciled to God connects us with the One who created all things, including the heavens we gaze at in awe and wonder.
Clear Skies and God Bless,
